Drayton Valley is known as the place to "create opportunity and realize potential". Add to that its surroundings and vibrant community and you've found the ideal place to live, work and play.
Located high on a plateau that rises between the North Saskatchewan and Pembina Rivers, Drayton Valley enjoys much more than stunning views. As the largest community within Brazeau County, it is a thriving service hub that caters to a trading area of approximately 20,000. Drayton Valley is alive with activity, natural beauty and all the benefits of small town living.
This is a community defined by big thinking and progressive initiatives, which is why it enjoys such a robust and diversified economy. The Town of Drayton Valley is a product of the 1953 Pembina oil fields boom and while this industry continues to be a primary driver in this community, the spirit of innovation that defines the town today has made way for an even stronger economic base.
The Bio-Mile is an initiative aimed at securing a place at the cutting edge of the rapidly emerging bio economy for Drayton Valley and the surrounding area. The science is complex, but the facts are simple. By taking wood and plant-based waste from the forestry and agricultural industries and breaking it down to its constituent parts, it's possible to manufacture a vast array of consumer products. Drayton Valley and Brazeau County are very well situated to play a key role in this sector as it develops due to our geographic location and the abundant supply of raw materials to serve as potential feedstock.
