As Edson prepares for its 100th birthday in 2011, there is more than a rich history to be celebrated in this vibrant community. Midway between Edmonton and Jasper National Park, Edson enjoys a strategic location, a strong community of hard working people and a thriving commercial sector that serves a trading area of 17,000 people.

Thanks to its proximity to the Yellowhead Highway, Edson is at the hub of significant traffic flow. More than 29,000 vehicles pass through Edson each day. Not only does this contribute to Edson's bustling commercial sector, it also exposes businesses in this town to a wider market. Its economy is further bolstered by the rich natural resources of the region, including oil and gas, forestry and coal. Its close proximity to the Canadian National Railway also makes Edson a strategic distribution center for these industries.

Known as the "Heart of the Yellowhead", Edson is a community rich with history, a high quality of life and an abundance of opportunities to grow, contribute and invest in.
