Growing

With a region so rich in natural resources and an even richer history of a pioneering spirit, we know that long-term success is a combination of both growth and growing pains. We've experienced our fair share of both in the past two years. The Mountain Pine Beetle made its way into our Forestry industry and not long after that, cascading oil prices hit our Oil and Gas sector hard. But our workforce, industry leaders and business owners are cut from the kind of cloth that doesn't fall apart when the going gets tough. Instead, they look at what can be learned from those growing pains and ask some important questions:

  1. Is it a long-term trend?
  2. How do we adapt?
  3. How can our response to this change make us stronger and more resourceful?
  4. How will it shape our vision for a sustainable future for the people, business and industry leaders of GAER?

This kind of honest inquiry has helped our communities pull together with even greater strength and determination. When it comes to adversity, we take a measured response in GAER. And then we follow it up with a big vision and some good old-fashioned bold decisions. Kind of like the people who settled this area in the first place.

In Grande Alberta, we like to think of ourselves as the new pioneers. It's helped us to become one of the strongest regions in our province and growing stronger.
