The Grande Alberta Economic Region (GAER) is a partnership of twelve communities and one associate member that works collectively on opportunities that bolster our region's economy and strengthen our region's municipalities.
We're made up of a Board of Directors, a professional staff and economic development partners who are care deeply about what life in our region has to offer.
While we are always looking for new opportunities that fit our future vision, we do much more than set the stage for new business and industry. We're also dedicated to the people of GAER and the many existing businesses who have helped us to become the economically diverse region that we are today.
We're passionate about what life in GAER has to offer and this passion shows in the work we do. Since our incorporation in 2001, we have:
- united our members in a culture of coalition and collaboration
- facilitated debate and discussion on the socio-economic impacts of the mountain pine beetle
- facilitated debate and discussion on the need for diversification in the face of the changing economy
- facilitated debate and discussion on the need for adaptability in our non-renewable resources industries
- promoted a cooperative tourism industry development
- proactively represented GAER to influencers and decision-makers looking to invest in our region
These successes have helped us to do much more than build a common vision for our region. They've also made us very proud of our people, our businesses and our collective dedication to a bright and exciting future.
